Well, the ground is froze solid, a foot of snow is on the
ground, and you're warming yourself next to your fire reading a stack of
catalogs. Hopefully considering my plants also. :-) Not much
to do in the garden but here are some things you can start planning for spring.
Hostas
-
Any congested areas? Plants too big, not place appropriately?
Identify these plants and plan where you would like to move them.
- Need more? You can always buy them, but if your going
to start separating your own plants, wait until at least the spring of their
third year. It will make a substantial difference in the amount of
material available for splitting.
- Plant those new gardens!
Grasses
-
Now, are you glad that you did not cut the grasses down in
the fall? The birds should be enjoying them also. If you also
have strategically placed the plants they will also serve as a natural snow
fence hopefully eliminating some blizzard back aches.
- Check out our winter
ornamental grass scenes!
- Any congested areas? Plants not placed
appropriately? Identify these plants and start exercising. You
will need a lot of elbow grease to get these plants out of the ground.
- Plan those new gardens!
