Look, a brand new hosta cultivar has been discovered!!

Isn't this a great looking new hosta cultivar?

Nope, only kidding.  Kidding that is about a new hosta.  What is brilliantly being displayed is the fall coloration that is exhibited  by hostas with green coloration.

Hostas begin in early fall (beginning of October for zone 5 folks) to turn a brilliant yellow or gold color.  The difference is so striking that you might think that you are looking at a totally different hosta cultivar!

Leaves with more substance will show a bolder color of yellow than thinner leafed hostas.  Hosta leaves last a long time cut, which means that this yellow beauty can be brought indoors at the tail end of the season.

This hosta leaves pictured above are from Hosta 'Night Before Christmas'.  Hosta 'Antioch' and other larger leaved green and white hostas are quite attractive.  Don't forget to look for this in your garden in the fall.
