Description: (MARGINALLY Hardy in Midwest!) Great for container gardens in our area! The red-leaved garden form has been well-known for more than a century in Japan as companion plants to bonsai. It spreads very slowly by shallow rhizomes. Very upright leaves, emerging green, red at tips, and increasing in it's red color over summer, becoming intense in late summary and autumn. Zone 6 grass.
