Ornamental Grass Clump Sizes

John 14:6 Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

It is hard to visualize the clump size of an ornamental grass with all of its foliage is full gear in the growing season.  In the spring of 1999 I took photos of some ornamental grass clumps just after spring cleanup was completed.

This side shows the clump spread rate of a new grass.  Pictured is Miscanthus sinensis 'Graziella'.  Planted the fall of 1997, the clump after one year growth in the ground is 12 inches wide.  The stand will be tremendous in the 1999 season!

This slide shows a 20" wide clump of Pennisetum alopecuroides.   This clump is three years old.

Here is a monster.  This is Miscanthus sinensis 'Silberfeder'.   Four years of growth as accumulated a 26" wide clump.  With foliage this stand during the 1998 season was 8 feet wide.
