Transplanting: at least 1 month before first frosts arrive, else plants can be frost sensitive and easily up heaved.

Inducing dormancy:4-6 weeks at 4oC, 50F. At around 20oC, 70F sprouting starts again in 2 weeks. Works better after 1-10.

Sprouting outside: soil temp above 5C, 40F at 5cm depth.

Flower stalk initiation: Strongly dependent on proper amount of fertilizer, probably initiated only above 10C, 50F air temp.

Flower development: above 15C, 65F day temp, else buds will drop

Flower color: Lilac flowers can become nearly white above say 20C, 70F and with high light intensities

Flower fertilization: best between 18-28C, 65-95F and between (7)8-10(12) h in the morning, later with lower temperatures. plantaginea cs better at 1600h or later.

Fertilization takes 3-4 hours at 25C, 75F.

Seed ripening: seeds are fully black and ripe in less then 3 months from fertilization, as shown by the splitting of the pods, but pods can still be a (dull)-green after 3 months.

After-ripening :let stalk or pods dry at room temp for a few weeks.

Pollen keeping: at least a year at -20C,-6F.

Seed keeping: at 4C, 50F for months, but for years at -20C, -6F

Seed preparation: No need for a cold treatment, but light maybe needed for germination, so don't cover the seed.

Sowing time: best nov-dec, or else in spring.

Seed germination: at 20-24C, 70-75F, it takes about 14 days.

Flowering: possible in 7 months from seed without extra light.
